Make time for breakfast with this smoothie

This delicious breakfast smoothie (full of vegetables and healthy fats) might be your perfect compromise if you don't have time for a sit down meal but want to stop skipping breakfast in the mornings.

Tasty breakfast smoothie with 3 vegetable servings

Breakfast is an important meal but it can be difficult to find the time to sit down and eat a proper breakfast each morning.

Unlike some smoothies, which are full of sugar and might contribute to a blood sugar rollercoaster, this smoothie is rich in protein and helpful fats. It also ticks off the colours white, red/purple and green on the rainbow food check list (which means it is rich in lots of diverse nutrients). You can prepare it the night before and sip on it slowly on the go (making sure you do a little bit of chewing to get those digestive juices flowing) or serve it in a bowl topped with extra goodness.


(makes one very large serving)

Frozen cauliflower florets - 1 cup

Kale - 1 cup

Frozen berries - 1/2 cup

Avocado/banana - 1/2

Hemp milk (or other dairy free milk) - 1/2 cup

Water - 1/2 cup

Nur butter - 1/2 tbsp

Chia seeds - 1 tbsp

Lemon juice/cinnamon/vanilla/cacao/ginger - Dash


  1. Place hemp milk and cauliflower in a blender, blend until smooth

  2. Add kale, berries, chia seeds and almond butter - blend until smooth (add water if needed)

  3. Season with lemon juice, cinnamon or vanilla

  4. Drink from a glass or eat from a bowl topped with oats, nuts or desiccated coconut.
